How to use the Time Zone Converter
Select a source time zone, enter the time you want to convert, then select one or more destination time zones. The converter shows the equivalent local time for each destination, accounting for Daylight Saving Time where applicable.
How time zone conversion works
Every time zone is defined as an offset from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). To convert from one zone to another, the local time is first converted to UTC (by subtracting the source offset), then the target offset is added. For example, converting 3:00 PM EST (UTC−5) to IST (UTC+5:30): 3:00 PM + 5h = 8:00 PM UTC, then 8:00 PM + 5h 30m = 1:30 AM IST the next day. DST adjustments shift offsets by one hour seasonally.
